Cristian Garin v Juan Pablo Ficovich Preview
Head-to-Head: Their only previous outing came in 2018 on the Challenger circuit and Garin had won that in straight sets.
At their respective best, Cristian Garin was ranked 17th in the world while Juan Pablo Ficovich has never better than world number 125.
Which is why it’s a bit of a surprise that Garin is just a 3/5 favourite coming into his opener against the 175h-ranked Ficovich. Sure, Garin has himself fallen to 147th on the rankings chart but the 28-year-old has some experience to behold that could make a big difference.
Garin has five ATP titles under his belt including one in Santiago in 2021 – also his last – and is coming off a second round appearance at the Australian Open earlier this year. His only match on clay this year, however, came in the Rio qualifiers where he was beaten in straight sets.
Ficovich has reached the main draw of an ATP tournament for the first time this season following losses to Sumit Nagal in Argentina and Hugo Dellien in Rio.
Can he turn into something bigger?
Garin v Ficovich prediction: Tiafoe to win: 1/2

Thiago Seyboth Wild v Gustavo Heide Preview
Head-to-Head: Seyboth Wild and Heide have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Thiago Seyboth Wild has tried to notch up a few wins this season but all that he has managed in 2025 is a couple of victories. Those two came in Buenos Aires where he made the quarterfinals with the help of a shock win over Sebastian Baez.
More recently, Seyboth Wild was knocked out of the Rio Open in the very first round by the in-form Jaume Munar and he will now he can turn things around in a competition where he had won her only ATP title way back in 2020.
Up against him in this opener is 160th-ranked and Brazilian qualifier Gustavo Heide.
Heide, who has never been ranked better than 142nd in the world, has been playing on clay this season since getting knocked out of the Australian Open qualifiers in January.
He made the semifinal at one of such Challengers before losing in the qualifiers of the Argentina Open and the first round in Rio.
A couple of qualifying wins here will give Heide another main draw place here but it might not be as easy to get past Seyboth Wild.
Seyboth Wild v Heide prediction: Seyboth Wild to win: 3/5
