Alexander Zverev v Matteo Arnaldi Head to Head
Zverev and Arnaldi have never faced off before this.
Zverev Hoping to Reverse Clay Form
Alexander Zverev was on an eight-match winning streak when he reached the final of the Australian Open. Unfortunately for the world number two, he proved to be no match for Jannik Sinner in that title-decider.
Following that performance, Zverev opted to head to South America for the clay swing and that’s where things haven’t quite gone his way so far.
The German had an opening round bye in the Buenos Aires Open and defeated Dusan Lajovic in the second round there. His campaign was ended in the quarterfinals by Francisco Cerundolo.
At Rio, Zverev won a couple of rounds but was then taken down by Francisco Comesana at that very stage.
Zverev has now opted to move back to hardcourt competitions as he prepares for the Indian Wells Masters and in his first round here, takes on an ever-improving Matteo Arnaldi.

Arnaldi 5-4 for the Season
Matteo Arnaldi is slowly and steadily inching up the rankings charts with some solid performances. What he has lacked in this year has been consistency with the Italian youngster having won just five of the nine matches he has played in.
The good news for Arnaldi is that he had started off slowly in 2025, losing in the second round in Brisbane and then crashing out of the Australian Open in the very first round.
Come the Dallas Open, Arnaldi put up a much better showing with a couple of wins to reach the quarterfinals and followed that up with a semifinal in Delray Beach.
Brandon Nakashima, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Learner Tien have all been at the receiving end of his showings and while Alexander Zverev is a different kettle of fish, it could get to be an interesting match-up.
Zverev v Arnaldi Prediction
Backing Zverev for a win but not before Arnaldi has pushed him hard with a reasonable chance of the match going into the third.
