Roberto Bautista Agut v Quentin Halys Head to Head
They have faced off twice before this, both of which came on clay in 2023. Halys won in Estoril while Bautista Agut triumphed in Madrid.
Bautista Agut Finally Wins One
With four successive defeats to kick-start the season, it was no surprise that Roberto Bautista Agut went into his opening round match here against Fabian Marozsan as an 8/5 second favourite.
Marozsan himself had played some solid tennis throughout the season which is why not too many were surprised when he grabbed the first set in this opener against Bautista Agut.
A little over two hours after Bautista Agut had dropped that opening set, he was walking away a winner in a brutal three-setter that went on for nearly two hours and 40 minutes.
Bautista Agut saved three break-points in the third game of the second set, another two in the seventh game and then out of nowhere broke his opponent in the next. He was forced to save another couple of break-points before he took the set.
The final set had an early exchange of breaks before they retained their serve to take the match into a tie-breaker which Bautista Agut won to seal off his first victory of the season.

Halys Stuns Rublev
Andrey Rublev had stunned the world last year at this tournament when he went on a tirade against the line judge and was defaulted from the competition.
This time around it was his chance to get stunned and that was thanks to Quentin Halys who came back from a set to overcome the ATP Doha winner in the very first round.
Despite going into the encounter as a 27/10 underdog, Halys registered a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory over Rublev in two hours and 14 minutes to reach the second round.
After having lost the first set, Halys looked to have given up on his advantage when he was broken at 3-1. He didn’t give up and in the 10th game as Rublev served to stay in the set, Halys broke him to take the match into a third.
The decider went to serve but not before Halys saved six break-points and while he missed two match-points in the tie-breaker that followed, Halys completed the win off the third.
Bautista Agut v Halys Predictions
This could turn out to be a great battle between two unlikely second round opponents. Backing this to go into the third set again with Halys to hold the edge.
