Ugo Humbert v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head
Their only previous face-off came at the 2021 Montpellier Open where Humbert had won in three close tie-breakers.
Humbert in a Stunning Rout of Lehecka
Jiri Lehecka has made a name for himself this season having defeated Carlos Alcaraz last week in Doha. While he had lost in the semifinal that followed to Jack Draper, he had come into this opener against Ugo Humbert with an even chance of winning the encounter.
What transpired in the match was something quite extraordinary.
The 2024 winner of this tournament, Humbert coasted to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Lehecka in a mere 69 minutes to reach the second round.
After what looked like a close opening set for the first five games of the encounter turned into a damp squib once Humbert broke Lehecka in the sixth game. From that point onward, it was one-traffic in favour of Humbert who won nine of the 10 games and with that, a place in the second round.

Griekspoor Clinches Gritty Battle against Safiullin
Tallon Griekspoor has had a modest start to the season with a 4-4 win-loss record coming into this tournament. What made things interesting was the fact that he had been involved in a very high percentage of tie-breakers in his matches – 9 of his last 13 sets had gone into a tie-breaker.
And that trend continued in his first round match against Roman Safiullin in which Griekspoor was forced to come back from a set down and clinch the next two sets in tie-breakers to grab a place in the second round.
In a match that went on for three hours, Griekspoor won 5-7, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1) after saving three match-points in the second set.
This followed his second round appearances at the Rotterdam Open and ATP Doha in successive tournaments before this.
Humbert v Griekspoor Predictions
Humbert might face the resistance of Griekspoor’s serve but he seems to have the game to get past that and should make it to the quarterfinals here as he looks to defend his title.
