Donna Vekic v Maya Joint Head to Head
Vekic and Joint have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Vekic on a Three-Match Losing Streak
Having made the fourth round at the Australian Open earlier this year, Donna Vekic should have been a lot more confident than she might be at the moment, coming into this competition.
The reason for that trepidation might be to do with Vekic’s recent record in which she was beaten three times in a row. This includes that fourth round exit at the season’s first major and opening round defeats in Doha and Dubai.
And Vekic would believe she had had a decent chance in all three with the Croat facing Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Linda Noskova and Sofia Kenin in those matches.
Vekic had an opening round bye here which gives her that three-match losing streak but she will believe she has a chance here.

Qualifier Joint Crushes Grabher
For the third match in a row in this tournament, Maya Join registered a straight-set win over her opponent and that has helped her make the second round of this tournament without breaking into a sweat.
Following easy victories over Emina Bektas and Solana Sierra in the qualifiers, Joint did not face too many challenges from the struggling Julia Grabher in her opener either.
Joint won 6-3, 6-2 in a match that took her an hour and a half.
The Aussie had earlier announced herself to the world this season when she made the semifinal at the Hobart International and entered the second round at the Singapore Open.
She was also a semifinalist in the WTA 125 event in Cancun just before this and will think she has a chance here.
Vekic v Joint Prediction
With Vekic’s form looking dodgy and Joint having registered a few wins already, we could be looking at a small upset here. Backing a Joint win.
