Tomas Machac v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head
Machac and Altmaier have never faced off in a competitive match at this level, having once played in a Futures match on clay in 2019 which Machac won.
Machac in a Battling Win over Mensik
Two players who have been quietly making a name for themselves as those to look out for in the future are Czech player Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik. And they faced off for what was their first meeting of what could be a few more of them over the years.
It was Machac who found a way past Mensik this time around, winning this encounter in three sets to make it a win-loss of 8-4 for the year.
Machac was on court for two hours and 11 minutes as he registered a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win in which he was broken four times in the encounter.
He also survived 12 aces from Mensik before getting the better of his opponent’s serve on five occasions.
Having made the third round at the Australian Open and the quarterfinal in Dallas, this is another chance that Machac has win couple of matches in a row as he takes on the world number 76 in round two.

Altmaier Edges out Kecmanovic
Miomir Kecmanovic has been in some solid form in 2025 and it looked like he had brought that along with him when he took to court for his opener against Daniel Altmaier.
Altmaier broke him early in the first set but then couldn’t maintain that momentum as he dropped his serve twice to concede the set.
And when Kecmanovic grabbed another break of serve in the second set to take a 2-1 lead, the writing was on the wall. Altmaier, however, found himself another gear and broke the Serb right back and then again when Kecmanovic served to stay in the set.
This routine repeated in the decider too when Kecmanovic drew first blood only to see Altmaier break back and then do that again to clinch the win in two hours and 12 minutes.
This was Altmaier’s sixth win of the tournament and for the third successive time he’s made the second round.
Can he put up a fight against Machac?
Machac v Altmaier Prediction
While Altmaier pulled off an upset win in his opener, we think it might be expecting too much for him to surprise a player nearly 50 spots ahead of him in the rankings. Backing Machac to grab this in two.
Machac v Altmaier Tips
- Machac to win in straight sets: 4/5
