Alexander Zverev v Learner Tien Head to Head
Zverev and Tien have never faced off before this.
Zverev Stretched by Arnaldi
A loss in the final of a Grand Slam is never a pleasant feeling and Alexander Zverev seems to have not been too chuffed about that in the Australian Open. Because since then he has not just been struggling to win matches, he has also crashed out of two tournaments in a hurry.
And here, in Acapulco as well, Zverev did not make a great start to the competition before coming through in a tough three-setter against the 13/5 underdog Matteo Arnaldi.
In a match that went for over two hours and 45 minutes, Zverev overcame the loss of the first set in a tie-breaker before getting back into some rhythm to win 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4.
While Zverev did not lose his serve even once, his inability to find a way past his opponent’s serve in the first set and breaking Arnaldi just once in each of the next two might have a cause for concern when he takes to court for the second round.

Tien Stuns Norrie
It’s been that kind of a season for Cameron Norrie where he has just not found any proper rhythm. And this time around it was Learner Tien who took advantage of that and carved out a straight-set win over the Brit.
In a match that went on for an hour and 52 minutes, Tien won 7-6 (5), 6-3 to make it to the second round of a tournament for the third time this year.
Tien had earlier made it through the qualifiers at the Australian Open, defeated Daniil Medvedev before clinching a fourth round spot. He made the second round in Delray Beach Open and has now qualified for this tournament with wins over and Federico Gomez and Laslo Djere to make the main draw.
And in the main draw, the 83rd-ranked Tien shrugged off three breaks of serves to grab a surprise win.
Can he take this form further to the second round against the world number two?
Zverev v Tien Prediction
Zverev hasn’t looked at his most fluent best but even then, he should have enough fuel in the tank to come through in this encounter. Might drop a set on the way though.
