Laslo Djere v Jaime Faria Head to Head
Djere and Faria have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Djere Continues to Sparkle against Martinez
Laslo Djere hadn’t made the best of starts to the season and having begun the year at 115th, he had failed to make any significant moves up.
Featuring at the Argentina Open as his first clay court competition, Djere was forced to play in the qualifiers but managed to not just make it through to the main draw but also overcame Alexandra Muller, Alejandro Tabilo and Thiago Seyboth Wild to make the semifinals.
He seems to have continued that same forward with a solid performance in Santiago too with the Serb having back to back rounds in straight sets.
Djere overcame Ignacio Buse 6-3, 6-4 in his opener here before routing Pedro Martinez 6-1, 6-4 to seal his quarterfinal berth for the third time he has appeared in this tournament.
Can he now make it back to back semifinals for the season?

Faria Continues Up Movement with Heide Win
A little over a year ago, Jaime Faria wasn’t even in the top 400 of the ATP Rankings but 14 months on, he could well be in line to break into the top 80 of the ATP Rankings.
This has been thanks to his performances at the Rio Open last year in which he made the quarterfinals having entered it through the qualifiers and having followed that up with another quarterfinal appearance here.
Faria could move even further up.
In this tournament in Santiago, Faria had stunned Luciano Darderi in the first round and while he was forced on to the court for nearly three hours, he made it through in three sets against Gustavo Heide.
The experience of Djere might be tough to handle for Faria but he could be in line for greater things.
Djere v Faria Prediction
Djere is 3/10 to win this but we could be looking at a tighter match than those odds suggest and we will have to go with Faria to win at least a set.
Djere v Faria Tips
- Faria to win a set – Yes: 5/6
