Emma Navarro v Emiliana Arango Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came on the ITF circuit back in 2023 and Navarro had won that clay court meeting.
Navarro Drubs Avanesyan
Emma Navarro had won her maiden WTA title last year in Hobart. She will now be gunning for her second tournament victory at this level when she takes on her qualifier opponent Emiliana Arango in the final.
And she got to the title-deciding round in a cruise, beating Elina Avanesyan 6-3, 6-3.
Following on from a first round bye and back to back straight set wins over Petra Martic and Zeynep Sonmez, the world number 10 came into her semifinal with a lot of confidence. And that showed even she faced some challenging situations in the early part of the encounter.
Navarro was down two break-points in the third game and then saved three more in the fifth before breaking her opponent in the next one.
In the second, Navarro got off to a quick start and went 2-0 ahead before losing her serve in the fourth game. She came back with three more breaks of serves to clinch the encounter 6-3, 6-3.

Arango Wins Battle of Qualifiers
Emiliana Arango won the battle of qualifiers by defeating Daria Saville in the semifinals to make it to her maiden final at this WTA level. She defeated Saville 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to clinch her 11th win at all levels.
Arango has had a couple of weeks to remember with results that could take her to the top 80 on the WTA charts.
Having entered this tournament ranked 133rd in the world and with a career-best ranking of 109th, not too many would have expected Arango to clinch the main draw spot with wins in two qualifying rounds victories over Maria Lourdes Carle, Frances Jones and Rebecca Sramkova before she overcame Saville.
Earlier, Arango had won a WTA 125 title in Cancun having overturned bookmakers’ odds in four of the five matches she had played there.
Navarro v Arango Prediction
Navarro has the game and the pedigree to end Arango’s winning run but it must be said that the Colombian has shown immense grittiness so far. We would still back Navarro but could see a fighting final.
Navarro v Arango Tips
- Navarro to win: 1/4
- Over 19.5 games in the match: 6/5
