Sebastian Baez v Laslo Djere Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Baez has won them both. They came at Santiago in 2023 and then at the Winston-Salem Open that very year.
Baez Made to Work Hard by Carabelli
In an all-Argentinian battle, Sebastian Baez overcame Ugo Carabelli in their semifinal to enter his second title-decider in as many weeks.
The Rio Open title winner last week, Baez looked to be in a good nick when he stormed through the first set against Carabelli. His opponent came back with a fighting display in the second but that fightback didn’t last too long in the decider.
In the end, Baez won 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 to book his place in the final.
Before this, Baez had edged out another Argentinian player Francisco Comesana in his second round match following an opening bye before coming through 6-4, 6-4 against Damir Dzumhur.

Djere Surprise for Cerundolo
Laslo Djere had fallen to outside the top 100 but he is slowly making his move back. Irrespective of the result here, he can be expected to get close to top 80 by the end of this match.
That’s after he had made the semifinal at the Argentina Open as a qualifier and then gave Rio a miss before entering the final here.
The Serb had a couple of straightforward wins in this tournament, defeating Ignacio Buse and Pedro Martinez but was then involved in a three-set thriller against Jaime Faria in the quarterfinals.
In his semifinals here, Djere quelled a bit of a fightback from the 4/6 favourite Francisco Cerundolo to win 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in a match lasting over two hours.
Djere lost his serve just once in the entire match – which was enough for his Argentine opponent to clinch the set – but came back strongly to win the final set.
Baez v Djere Prediction
