Sloane Stephens v Sofia Kenin Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players with both winning one apiece. Stephens clinched their first match at the Canadian Open in 2022 while in 2023 they met at this very tournament where Kenin won 6-4, 6-1.
Stephens 0-4 for the Season
Sloane Stephens continues to plummet on the rankings chart and unless she can find a way to win a few matches in a row, there could be more such hurt.
Having begun the year ranked 74th in the world – down from 47th at the end of the previous season – Stephens has featured in four tournaments this year and lost in the first round at all four of them.
It started with a loss to Ann Li at Auckland, a hard-fought three-set defeat there for Stephens. She then had a chance to avenge that defeat when they met again in Hobart but this time Li won in straight sets.
At the Australian Open, Stephens was drawn against the world number one in the very first round and went down in a hurry while her latest loss came in the first round of the Merida Open where she lost to the struggling Petra Martic.
A turnaround is much needed but the big question is how..

Kenin in a Solid Showing This Season
Having begun the season ranked 81st in the world, Sofia Kenin has shown a bit of a sparkle from when she was at her best. As a result of that, she has earned some excellent wins which have taken her to 47th on the WTA charts as she enters this year’s Indian Wells Open.
Kenin has featured in six tournaments this season so far and has slowly grown in the way she has dished out her performances.
Having made the second round in Auckland and the quarterfinals in Hobart, Kenin was knocked out by Cori Gauff in the first round of the Australian Open. She did not make it past her opener at Abu Dhabi either before turning things around in Doha and Dubai.
At the former, she made the third round before losing to Ons Jabeur and then overcame Donna Vekic, Alycia Parks and Jasmine Paolini on her way to the quarterfinals at the latter.
She could spring a few surprises here.
Stephens v Kenin Predictions
Kenin’s form is far too superior at the moment and she should not have a lot of difficulties in getting past her opponent, even winning this in straight sets.
Stephens v Kenin Tips
