Fabian Marozsan v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
Marozsan and Martinez have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Marozsan Form Tapering off after Bright Start
Fabian Marozsan had surprised a few around the world when he shocked Andrey Rublev in the second round of the Hong Kong Open earlier this year. That was his first tournament for the season and he would have been chuffed about that result.
He translated that into a third round appearance at the Australian Open but since then he has featured in four tournaments and won just three matches.
Marozsan fell to Rublev in a rematch, but other than that he has also lost to Gabriel Diallo, Jiri Lehecka and Roberto Bautista Agut in subsequent appearances.
The 25-year-old had shot to fame last season when he made the fourth round here and followed that up with a quarterfinal appearance at the Miami Masters. Can he do an encore this season?

Martinez 7-7 for the Season
A clay court specialist, Pedro Martinez made the second round of the Indian Wells Masters on three previous occasions – in 2021, 2022 and 2023. He gave this tournament a miss in 2024 which means he is defending no points coming into this.
The good news for Mensik is that he enters the competition on the back of a semifinal appearance at the Argentina Open.
He did fall in the openers at Rio and Santiago after that but the slower courts of Indian Wells could be of help to his style of play.
Earlier in the season, Martinez had also stunned Holger Rune in Rotterdam on his way to the quarterfinals while he also made the second round at the Australian Open.
It would be interesting to see the nature of his form coming into this one.
