Robin Montgomery v Jule Niemeier Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the Rosmalen Open 2024 where Montgomery won in straight sets.
Auckland Semifinalist Montgomery Needs More Game-Time
Robin Montgomery enters the Indian Wells Open ranked 107th in the world, just five spots away from her career-best ranking of 102nd. This comes over four years after Montgomery had made her WTA debut at the US Open in 2020.
It took her till the 2024 season to win her first ever Grand Slam match win which came at Wimbledon. Montgomery made the second round there before losing to Ons Jabeur.
In 2025, Montgomery started things off at the Auckland Open where she overcame Mai Hontamo, Nao Hibino and Bernarda Pera in successive rounds to make the semifinals.
She lost to Clara Tauson and then failed to qualify for the Australian Open.
Montgomery hasn’t played any competitive tennis since then at any level.

Niemeier Needs to Start Winning Main Draw Matches
Jule Niemeier had fallen to 165th in the world at the end of the 2023 season but then did well enough in 2024 to break into the top 100 and ended the season at 89th.
Things haven’t gone her way this year again.
Niemeier started off the year with a first round loss at the hands of Nao Hibino in Auckland and then failed to qualify for the Adelaide International. At the Australian Open, Niemeier won her first main draw match of the season but since then has played three more matches and lost them all.
This includes a qualifying loss at the WTA Dubai.
Which is why, after Niemeier had overcome Hanne Vandewinkel in the qualifiers here, she went into the second qualifying round against Eva Lys as a 17/10 underdog. A shocking 6-4, 6-3 win took her to the main draw here where she might have a decent shot at winning a round.
Montgomery v Niemeier Predictions
Not much to choose between these two with bookmakers offering 9/11 apiece for either to win. Backing Niemeier to edge the contest thanks to her experience.
Montgomery v Niemeier Tips
- Niemeier to win: 9/11
