Renata Zarazua v Elisabetta Cocciaretto Head to Head
After having faced off on the ITF circuit in 2017, they played each other in the qualifiers of the 2022 Guadalajara Open as well. Zarazua had won the first and Cocciaretto had made it 1-1.
Their latest meeting came in the Italian Open last year and Cocciaretto had won a tough, three-set encounter on clay.
Zarazua on Indian Wells Debut
Renata Zarazua did make a steady start to the season with opening round wins at Brisbane, Hobart and the Australian Open but since then, things have gone a bit haywire for her.
The Mexican player fell to Hailey Baptiste in the first round of the Singapore Open, then lost to Magda Linette in Abu Dhabi and was forced to qualify for the main draw in Doha when she lost her second qualifying round.
Getting a chance to make it through as a lucky loser, Zarazua then lost to Paula Badosa there before not even making through the qualifiers in Dubai.
With Zarazua’s form tapering off drastically, it could turn out to be a difficult Indian Wells main draw debut for her, having featured in the qualifiers of this event twice before.

Cocciaretto Needs Better Results
Elisabetta Cocciaretto has shown glimpses this year of why she was once ranked in the top 30 on the WTA charts. It came at the Cluj-Napoca Open where she routed Irina Begu and Anna Bogdan in the first two rounds in straight sets and for some time it looked like the tennis gods were shining on her again.
Unfortunately for Cocciaretto, she has done nothing of note other than that in 2025.
Having started the season with a first round loss at the Hobart International to Polina Kudermetova, Cocciaretto went on to lose her openers at the Australian Open and Linz Open as well. Diana Shnaider and Rebecca Sramkova got the better of her there.
And this was followed by an opening round loss to Magda Linette at Merida in the week prior to the Indian Wells Open.
