Dayana Yastremska v Yue Yuan Head to Head
Yastremska and Yuan have never played against each other before this.
Yastremska Continues to Prosper in 2025
Dayana Yastremska might still be some way away from her career-best ranking of 21st in the world but the manner in which she has played this season so far it might not take her too much more time to get close.
The Ukrainian player had crashed out of the Brisbane International in her opener to start things off this season but since then her performances have taken off.
She made the quarterfinals in Hobart and then entered the third round of the Australian Open.
And in what turned out to be one of her best performances in recent times, Yastremska cruised into the Linz Open final with wins over Maria Sakkari and Clara Tauson in the process.
More recently, Yastremska showed that her recent performances have not been a flash in the pan, defeating Magda Linette and Anastasia Potapova in Dubai.
She will start things off as a favourite against a struggling Yue Yuan.

Yuan Struggles Continue
When Yue Yuan won a couple of rounds at the Brisbane International to kick-start her season, including one against Marta Kostyuk one would have thought she had teed off in a solid fashion and expected a lot to come off her racquet.
Unfortunately for Yuan, she has struggled badly after the ouster from that competition in Brisbane.
In fact things have gone so bad for the Chinese player that she hasn’t won a match since then.
Yuan has featured in six tournaments since then and hasn’t made the second round in any of them. In one of them, in Dubai, Yuan did not even make it to the main draw. What would bother Yuan even more was the fact that she has lost to players ranked lower down the WTA charts.
Interestingly, Yuan had won the Austin Open title last year and followed that up with a quarterfinal appearance at the Indian Wells.
She was a first round casualty at the former this year and will stand to lose a lot of points if she doesn’t go deep enough here.
Yastremska v Yuan Predictions
Yastremska will be a heavy favourite here and she should come through against the off-colour Yuan with a straight-set win expected.
Yastremska v Yuan Tips
- Yastremska to win: 9/20
- Yastremska to win in straight sets: 11/10
