Roberto Bautista Agut v Damir Dzumhur Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the final of the Winston-Salem Open of 2017. Bautista-Agut had won that encounter in straight sets.
Bautista Agut 1-5 for the Season
It’s been a highly forgettable start to the season for the 36-year-old Roberto Bautista Agut who has played six matches and won just one.
That victory came in his most recent appearance in a competition, in Dubai, where he came back from a set down to grab a three-set win against Fabian Marozsan despite starting out a 6/4 underdog.
Quentin Halys ended his run in the second round there.
Before that, Bautista-Agut had suffered losses at the hands of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Denis Shapovalov, Pedro Martinez and Zizou Bergs – not your typical top 10 or 20 players in the world.
That’s a worrying sign for the 12-time ATP winner.

Dzumhur Showing Signs of Old Form
Once ranked 23rd in the world, Damir Dzumhur looked to fallen away and ended the 2023 season ranked 154th.
A rather solid last season allowed Dzumhur to end the year in the top 100 again and while he has maintained that 84th-rank he had begun the season on, his tennis might have given his some hope.
And that confidence could be seen even in the qualifiers.
Primarily known for his performances on clay, Dzumhur overcame Brandon Holt and Radu Albot to make it to the main draw of the Indian Wells Masters for the first time since 2019!
This follows his quarterfinal appearance at the Santiago Open where he had shocked the 1/2 favourite Corentin Moutet in the first round and then stunned 1/5 Mariano Navone in the second.
Can he take this form over to this opening encounter?

Bautista-Agut could have a few problems here against a player who might not enjoy hardcourt tennis too much but the slower nature of these surfaces could bring Dzumhur into this as well. Backing Dzumhur for the win here.
