This will be the first meeting between Tomova and Bouzas Maneiro.
Tomova 0-3 for the Season
Viktoriya Tomova looked to have had a decent end to the previous season, finishing on a 5-5 win-loss record over her last 10 matches of the year.
Unfortunately for her, she hasn’t been able to kick-start her new year in the same vein and her three tournament campaigns in 2025 have all ended in first round losses.
Tomova managed to win just three games against Renata Zarazua in Brisbane, lost to Greet Minnen in Adelaide in straight sets again and suffered a 6-1, 6-3 setback against Daria Kasatkina at the Australian Open.
That makes it four successive defeats for Tomova and she will be desperate to turn that around when she takes to court against a player who has done well in the short time she has participated in indoor hardcourt competitions.
Bouzas Maneiro with a Mixed Start
While Jessica Bouzas Maneiro would have liked to do better than the 2-3 win-loss she has acquired over the course of the three tournaments she has featured in, two of those losses have come at the hands of top 10 players.
At the United Cup, Bouzas Maneiro overcame Maria Sakkari after losing to Elena Rybakina and then at the Australian Open she was sent packing by Aryna Sabalenka.
Bouzas Maneiro would be a touch disappointed with her Hobart International loss at the hands of Maria Lourdes Carle but this would be her chance to turn things around.
That’s because in the two ITF competitions she played in 2024 indoors, Bouzas Maneiro acquired a 9-1 win-loss record, clinching a title to go as well.
