Yulia Putintseva v Linda Noskova Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came last year at the US Open and Putintseva had won that in straight sets.
Putintseva in a Scrappy Win over Uchijima
Despite starting out as a 1/5 favourite in her opener against Moyuka Uchijima, Yulia Putintseva did not have it easy as well.
She needed two and a half hours to carve out a 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3 win after having to fight back twice from being a break down in the second set and then losing it anyway in the following tie-breaker.

This follows a semifinal appearance at Adelaide and third round showing at the Australian Open for Putintseva who had entered the tournament perched at her career-best ranking of 20th in the world.

Noskova Eases Past Vekic
After having made the semifinal in Abu Dhabi last week, Linda Noskova had the form and the confidence entering a tournament just a couple of days later.
The only question then was if she had the motivation and the fitness to continue in the same vein as she was when she defeated players of the quality of Magdalena Frech, Paula Badosa and Magda Linette in that tournament.
After all, Noskova had been playing till Friday there and a couple of days later she would have hopped across to Doha and featured in her opener against Donna Vekic.
She dispelled all those doubts and romped to a 6-2, 6-4 win in her opener, needing a mere hour and 15 minutes to get to it against the world number 19. And she now plays the world number 20.
