Yulia Putintseva v Linda Noskova Head to Head
They have faced off twice with both winning it once. Putintseva had clinched their 2024 US Open encounter before Noskova won last week at the WTA Qatar to move into the third round.
Putintseva Looking Solid in 2025
At the time of writing Yulia Putintseva is ranked 20th in the world, which is also her career-best ranking. That might fall by a couple of notches when she takes to court for her opener here after a second round loss in Doha before this tournament.
Putintseva had scraped through her first round match, defeating Moyuka Uchijima in three sets before Linda Noskova got the better of her in the second. The one-sidedness of the contest in which Putintseva won just five games would probably hurt her a tad.
That’s not to say that the Kazakh hasn’t had a solid season – far from it.
She has already made the semifinal at the Adelaide International and then entered the third round at the Australian Open, giving her a win-loss record of 7-5 for the season.

Noskova Overturns Poor Start
In the first three tournaments of the season for Linda Noskova, she had done nothing of note.
Barring a win over Anca Todoni in the first round at Brisbane, she had lost three matches – to Mirra Andreeva, Maria Sakkari and Clara Tauson, three top players obviously – and looked to be struggling to catch a break.
Noskova has turned things around though, especially with her performance in Abu Dhabi.
The Czech overcame Magdalena Frech, Paula Badosa and Magda Linette in Abu Dhabi to make the semifinal, and she should have probably done a little better than that too. A loss to Ashlyn Krueger ended her campaign there.
She came back to beat Donna Vekic and Yulia Putintseva in Doha and while Noskova went down to Iga Swiatek, it wasn’t before she had taken the world number two to three sets.

Noskova is coming off a win over Putintseva just last week but this could quickly change this time around given that her opponent has had some good results coming into this. We expect a tough battle that goes into the third.
