Corentin Moutet v Jordan Thompson Head to Head
Moutet and Thompson will be facing off for the first time here.
Moutet Hoping Fitness isn’t a Concern
Corentin Moutet began his season directly at the Australian Open and looked to have started well when he made the third round of that competition. On his way to getting there he surprised Alexei Popyrin and Mitchell Krueger too.
Unfortunately for Moutet, he went down in straight sets to Learner Tien in the third round and later revealed he had collapsed and blacked out in a shower. He also said he had had no time to visit a doctor and had come into the encounter undercooked as a result.
Since then, Moutet has featured in three clay court competitions and while he began with a win in the first of those at Buenos Aires, he went on to lose the next three in a row.
Moutet now faces a player who has himself had fitness concerns which could make this a bit of an interesting contest.

Thompson Hasn’t Played Since the Australian Open
Jordan Thompson was left with no choice, in his own words, but to go on a hiatus from the sport following his second round loss at the Australian Open.
Having kick-started the season at the Brisbane International where he made the quarterfinal, Thompson had defeated Dominik Koepfer to enter the second round of the season’s first major. He was sent packing in straight sets in that match by Nuno Borges before he went on a break.
That break from tennis was brought about a calf strain he looked to be exhibiting even in that second round defeat and he later would go on to admit that he has no option but to walk away after having tried a combination of hyperbaric chamber, ice baths, painkillers and physiotherapy.
It now remains to be seen how much he’s recovered coming into this one.
Moutet v Thompson Predictions
The issue here we do not quite know the full extent of the two players’ fitness but assuming they are both in a similar boat, we will have to back Thompson to edge this contest.
