Jan-Lennard Struff v Gael Monfils Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players, at the 2014 French Open, 2018 ATP Doha and more recently at the Auckland Open in January. Monfils has won all three.
Struff in Strife
Jan-Lennard Struff might be ranked 46th at the moment but he could well be sliding down the charts if he has another month or so of what he has dished out so far this season.
A third round entrant in the Indian Wells Masters last year, Struff enters this year’s competition in a lot of strife and that’s to do with his performances over the six tournaments he has featured in this season.
Following his second round appearance in the first tournament he played this year – where he lost to Monfils – Struff has gone on to lose in the first round of four tournaments. The only place where he won something was in Marseille where he overcame the 289th-ranked Manuel Guinard and the 189th-ranked Hugo Grenier to make the quarterfinal.
Other than that, Struff has been no match for any of his opponents in 2025 and he will need to do a lot better if he wants to get the better of his French opponent here.

Monfils Hoping to Build on Solid Start
“I don’t win a lot”.
That’s what Gael Monfils said when he clinched his 13th tour level title earlier this year, defeating Zizou Bergs in the final of the Auckland Open.
While he has played nearly two decades on the tour, 13 titles isn’t something to be scoffed at especially given that he has also been a top-10 player for a considerable time in the past.
Monfils is now 38 years old but it looks like the hunger to win is still there as was on display at the Australian Open too where he made the fourth round.
What was also on show was his solid fitness with Monfils winning one of those matches in five sets, another in four sets and featuring in three tie-breakers before losing to Ben Shelton in the fourth round.
Struff v Monfils Predictions
Monfils might not have age on his side but he definitely looks like he has form to go with and we feel confident of backing him.
