Iga Swiatek v Qinwen Zheng Head to Head

There have been seven previous meetings between these two and Swiatek has won six of them.

The only time that Zheng defeated Swiatek was at the Paris Olympics last year.

Swiatek’s wins include four in hardcourt competitions, including one in Dubai and the United Cup last year.

Swiatek Romps into the Quarterfinal with Muchova Win

Iga Swiatek continued to boss matches at the Indian Wells Open as she registered her eighth successive win in the tournament when she cruised past Karolina Muchova in the fourth round.

On a wet day at Indian Wells, Swiatek did not face much of a challenge from Karolina Muchova as she sealed a 6-1, 6-1 win over her Czech opponent in a mere 57 minutes.

Having faced Muchova at the 2023 French Open final and scraped through to a win in three sets in that encounter, one could have expected this to be a bit of a challenge for Swiatek. It was anything but that.

For the third successive match Swiatek did not face a single break-point while getting the better of Muchova’s serve on five occasions.

And for the third straight match, Swiatek lost just two games in the encounter, having earlier done that against Caroline Garcia and Dayana Yastremska too!

Zheng Overcomes Kostyuk

Despite having entered this tournament on the back of some fitness concerns and very poor form, Qinwen Zheng has now made it to the quarterfinals.

And she did so with a third successive straight-set win following an opening round bye.

At the receiving end of Zheng’s sharp play in her latest round was Marta Kostyuk who did manage to get the better of her opponent’s serve on two occasions but failed with her own serves.

Zheng broke Kostyuk five times including three times in the first set to claim a 6-3, 6-2 victory in an hour and 22 minutes.

Earlier in the tournament, Zheng had overcome Victoria Azarenka and Lulu Sun and with this latest victory has won three in a row to go in sharp contrast to just one win from the first two months of the season.

Swiatek v Zheng Predictions

While it seems fair to say that Zheng is back to full fitness, she would also be up against a rampaging Swiatek and despite what happened at the Olympics last year we see just one winner in this one.
