Sorana Cirstea v Arantxa Rus Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players in the past and Cirstea has won every single time. The first two matches came in 2010 while their most recent meeting was in the 2022 Istanbul Open.
Cirstea Makes Poor Start to the Season
Sorana Cirstea had a poor previous season when she featured in 16 tournaments in the entire year, and won just 12 matches.

Rus in Her Own Form Strife
Arantxa Rus, much like Cirstea has barely had a win at the highest level in a while.
She had made the quarterfinal of the Jiangxi Open last year but since then Rus hasn’t won a main draw match on the WTA circuit.
Having begun this season at the Brisbane International, Rus was beaten in straight sets by Yue Yuan in her opener.
Rus then tried to qualify for the Hobart competition but fell in the second round of the qualifiers before Olga Danilovic ended her brief stay at the Australian Open, beating her in straight sets in their opener.
She now has an interesting one against a struggling Cirstea but knowing she has been beaten by her opponent multiple times in the past.
