Elena Rybakina v Ons Jabeur Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings between these two players and Jabeur leads 3-2.
Their last two matches came at Wimbledon with Rybakina winning the 2022 title by beating Jabeur in the final before losing to her in the quarterfinal the following year.
Rybakina Needs Three Sets against Volynets
Elena Rybakina has been a bit in and out of tennis because of her fitness related concerns but has still managed to win three of the four matches she’s played in both the tournaments she has featured in this year.
At the United Cup, she helped Kazakhstan make the semifinal with three successive singles wins before losing to Iga Swiatek.
This was followed by her appearance at the Australian Open where she coasted to the fourth round with straight set wins only to lose to the eventual winner Madison Keys.
Rybakina returned to courts here and after a first round bye, should not have had a problem getting past Katie Volynets. The defending champion, however, survived a big scare when she overcame the lost of the first set to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in 2 hours and 27 minutes.
She will need to do a lot better against Jabeur.

Jabeur Ends Sonobe’s Run
Wakana Sonobe had surprised Yue Yuan in the first round but there were no such repeat shows in the second round as Ons Jabeur eased to a straight-set win over the teenager.
In a match that went on a mere 74 minutes, Jabeur broke her opponent five times and ended the Australian Open juniors champion’s run in style.
While Jabeur did drop her serve twice too – once apiece in both the sets – she did not face too much trouble. In the opening set, she was already a break up and in the second she quickly broke Sonobe back before racing away to the win.
Jabeur had entered the encounter on the back of a straight-set win against Jelena Ostapenko having earlier made the quarterfinal at the Brisbane International and the third round at the Australian Open.
Rybakina v Jabeur Prediction
Rybakina might have had some trouble in the previous round but we think she will come back stronger against Jabeur and while we could see a close encounter, backing the world number five to edge out the Tunisian player.
Rybakina v Jabeur Tips
- Rybakina to win: 1/2
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
