Katerina Siniakova v Viktoriya Tomova Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the qualifiers of the WTA Moscow way back in 2016 and Siniakova had won that in straight sets.
Siniakova Makes a Comeback Win against Dolehide
Katerina Siniakova had needed three sets to overcome Francesca Jones in her opening round victory here and it repeated in the second round against Caroline Dolehide as well.
This time around, however, Siniakova was forced to come back from a set down to clinch another three-set victory as she edged out Dolehide 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 to seal a quarterfinal berth.
This follows a run of three tournaments for Siniakova this season in which she had been knocked out in the very first round.
A semifinalist at the Guangzhou Open last year to finish off her season, Siniakova was fell to Diana Shnaider, Iga Swiatek and Elina Avanesyan in her openers in Adelaide, at the Australian Open and in Linz.
These two results here, however hard-fought, would come as a huge relief for the Czech player.

Tomova Stuns Danilovic
Viktoriya Tomova was a whopping 5/2 odds to defeat the second seeded Olga Danilovic in their second round match. Nearly two hours into the match, Tomova had stunned Danilovic 7-5 7-5 to move into the quarterfinals.
What made the win even more special, other than the huge gulf in the match-winning odds, was that Tomova was down 3-5 in both sets and came back to win four games in a row to end her Serbian opponent’s journey.
This follows a really poor start to the season for Tomova who had lost in the first round at each of her first three tournaments this season – Brisbane, Adelaide and Australian Open.
Tomova then made the second round in Linz but in winning two in a row here, she has done something she had last achieved in Seoul, some eight WTA tournaments ago.
Can she put up a fight for Siniakova?
Siniakova v Tomova Prediction
While Siniakova might not have had a great start to the season, a lot of that could be down to the nature of her draw – and now that she has found her rhythm, we can expect her to build on it and find a way to win here.
Siniakova v Tomova Tips
- Siniakova to win: 7/15
- Under 20.5 games in the match: 4/5
