Alex de Minaur v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head
De Minaur and Altmaier have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
de Minaur Continues Good Form with Mensik Win
Alex de Minaur was in some rich vein of form last year around this time, reaching the final of this competition before Jannik Sinner got the better of him.
Coincidentally, his excellent run of results has continued around the same time this year. De Minaur registered his ninth win of the season when he eased past Jakub Mensik and his only defeat has come at the hands of Sinner again.
Having coasted to a straight-set win over David Goffin in the first round, de Minaur was on court for an hour and a half as he handed Mensik a 6-4, 6-4 defeat.
It was such a comprehensive performance from the Aussie that he faced no break-points in the entire match and lost just 10 points on his own serve – that’s 10 points lost across the 10 games in which he served!
He now has a good chance to make it to the semifinal as he takes on a lucky loser.

Altmaier Shocks Fils
Before coming into this tournament, Daniel Altmaier had won just one main draw match at this level since the start of this season.
In Rotterdam too, it looked like Altmaier wasn’t about to add to that tally when he went down in the qualifiers but then managed to make it to the main draw as a lucky loser.
He was a 6/4 underdog going into his opener against Aleksandar Kovacevic and managed to win it in three sets. And while that was a surprise, what followed in the second round has been a big upset.
At 3/1 odds to win his second round match against Arthur Fils, not too many would have given Altmaier much of a chance but he came away a shock winner.
The 26-year-old German pulled off a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win over Fils in a match lasting nearly two and a half hours. Altmaier earned 13 chances to break his opponent and did that four times to enter the quarterfinals of an ATP event for the first time since the Auckland Open of 2024.
de Minaur v Altmaier Prediction
Altmaier has managed a couple of upsets but the kind of form that de Minaur has been in, it seems highly unlikely he would be able to repeat that a third time. Backing de Minaur to win this in two.
de Minaur v Altmaier Tips
- De Minaur to win in straight sets: 1/3
