Mirra Andreeva v Katie Volynets Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2024 Indian Wells Open and Volynets had surprised Andreeva in the very first round.
Andreeva Showing Sparkle in 2025
While Mirra Andreeva hasn’t quite gone the distance this year, she has had a couple of solid showings in the season already.
Having featured at the Brisbane International and Australian Open so far this year, Andreeva won three rounds at both. This included victories over Linda Noskova, Ons Jabeur and Marie Bouzkova at various points during the tournaments, and well, defeats to Aryna Sabalenka both times.
Andreeva might not have graduated to a level where she is able to take down top 10 players with regularity but she sure looks like a tough player to beat for the lower-ranked players.
Just over a year ago, Andreeva was ranked 57th in the world but a maiden WTA title win and an excellent set of performances all around have taken her close to the top 10.
She has a good chance of notching up her maiden win at this tournament here.

Volynets Comes Through the Qualifiers
For the second tournament in a row, Katie Volynets was forced to feature in the qualifiers and for the second time she made it through to the main draw.
At Abu Dhabi last week, Volynets had gone one step further by defeating Sonay Kartal in the first round before she lost a fighting three-setter to Elena Rybakina.
And while Rybakina isn’t at the top of her game at the moment, it would have still given Volynets a shot in her arm the manner in which was able to push the world number five.
Here, Volynets has already defeated Ipek Oz and Rebeka Masarova but now comes her real test as she faces Andreeva. She would look to dig deep and take something out of her win last Indian Wells Open.
Andreeva v Volynets Prediction
On paper this looks like it could turn out to be a one-sided encounter but Volynets has hussled rather well all season and we could see a bit of a fight here, even the grabbing of a set.
