Donna Vekic v Linda Noskova Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between Vekic and Noskova.
Vekic Returns after Australian Open Exploits
Donna Vekic hadn’t had the best start to the season when she fell away to three successive losses – two at the United Cup which played their part in knocking Croatia out of the competition and one at the Adelaide International where she lost her opener to Yulia Putintseva.
She got her act together, however, at the Australian Open where she came back to win three rounds.
This included a shock win over Diana Shnaider in the third round, where she had gone in as a 7/5 underdog. The match was one of the longest of Vekic’s career and saw two of the three sets enter a tie-breaker.
Vekic went down in the fourth to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and hasn’t take to court for a competitive match since then.
She will be up against a player who is coming off a solid performance last week.

Noskova in Abu Dhabi Semifinals
Featuring in Abu Dhabi in this Middle East Asia Swing, if we can call it that, Linda Noskova made a solid start when she reached the semifinal of that tournament.
It would have been both, confidence-infusing and a relief after Noskova had kick-started the season with a 1-3 win-loss record.
Noskova won her opener against Anca Todoni at the Brisbane International but from that point onward, lost to Mirra Andreeva, Maria Sakkari and Clara Tauson – the last of those losses coming at the Australian Open.
At Abu Dhabi, she was at the kind of best that had taken her to her career-best ranking of 25th in the world. She defeated Magdalena Frech, Paula Badosa and Magda Linette to make the semifinals where her campaign was ended by Ashlyn Krueger.
She would hope to take this same form to Qatar.
Vekic v Noskova Prediction
Noskova would be glad her semifinal ended on Friday, allowing her a couple of days to regroup and refocus for this tournament on Monday. We expect Vekic to still be a good pick to win this as she returns fresher than her opponent and that does become a factor in women’s tennis.
Vekic v Noskova Tips
- Vekic to win: 13/10
