Cameron Norrie v Zachary Svajda Head to Head
Norrie and Svajda have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Norrie Struggles Continue
For a player ranked 63rd in the world, you would think that a 3-4 win-loss for the season is par for the course. That’s where Cameron Norrie stands this year, both with his ranking and his record.
However, Norrie was a top 10 player not so long ago and even started the 2024 season ranked 14th on the charts.
Which is why it’s a touch surprising to see him struggle to stitch together consecutive wins in a tournament. Even more so after he had given an indication that his issues seem to be behind him when Norrie made the final of the Metz Open late last year on the back of four successive victories.
His struggles are back this year and he has lost four his last five matches including one to Reilly Opelka in the second round of the Dallas Open last week.

Svajda Returns to Main Draw
Zachary Svajda last played a main draw match at the highest level in Shanghai last October having made it through the qualifiers. He went on to defeat Adrian Mannarino to make the second round as well.
Since then, Svajda has tried to go through the qualifiers route to try and feature in ATP tournaments of this magnitude but it’s only here, now at the Delray Beach Open that he has finally managed to do that.
He defeated Stefan Kozlov and Ethan Quinn in successive matches, in straight sets, to set up this first round encounter with Norrie.
And while Svajda has never been a top 100 player in his career, he would know that a few more such qualifications and main draw wins could bring him back into that contention.
He has a good chance here given his opponent’s form.
Norrie v Svajda Prediction
While Norrie starts a 9/25 favourite to win this, it would be interesting to see how he goes up against a local player who could trouble him given his recent wins at the lower level.
