Paula Badosa v Amanda Anisimova Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2024 Australian Open where Anisimova had won in two.
Badosa Made to Work by Zarazua
Despite starting out a 1/5 favourite in her opener against Mexico’s Renata Zarazua, Paula Badosa was forced to take her time to get going and finally win it in three sets.
Badosa, who was supposed to take on Katerina Siniakova before the latter withdrew from the tournament, was on court for an hour and 48 minutes before she edged past Zarazua.
She eventually won 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, stalling a two-match losing streak that had included a first round exit at the Abu Dhabi Open last week.
Having made the semifinals at the Australian Open, this was probably the start she needed here to get going and Badosa now could grow into the competition as she looks to maintain her top 10 position in the world.

Anisimova Ends Azarenka’s Campaign
While Victoria Azarenka hasn’t gotten going really well this year, she is still a former Grand Slam winner who has managed to stay relevant in modern-day tennis by continuing to evolve and improve.
Which is is why Anisimova would cherish this win over Azarenka even more, having earlier had a mixed start to the season.
Anisimova, who was coming off a first round exit at Auckland, a fitness-related withdrawal from Hobart before her quarterfinals and a second round exit at the Australian Open, defeated Azarenka 6-3, 7-5.
In a match lasting an hour and 35 minutes, Anisimova slammed six aces and won 71% of her first serve points while managing to break Azarenka four times.
She will hope to put up a fight against Badosa as well.
Badosa v Anisimova Prediction
Bookmaker odds for this indicate very little faith in Badosa who starts off 4/6 for this one despite the difference in their ranking – 10th v 41st – and despite the fact that Badosa had also made the semis at the Australian Open. We could see a keen tussle but backing Badosa to win here.
Badosa v Anisimova Tips
- Badosa to win: 4/6
