Jessica Pegula v Elina Svitolina Head to Head
There have been six previous meetings between these two players with Pegula leading 4-2. Svitolina won their first ever encounter in 2021 in Abu Dhabi and she then won their most recent match too which came in the Paris Olympics last year.
It’s 4-1 for Pegula in hardcourt competitions.
Pegula Hoping to Do Better in 2025
Jessica Pegula has managed to hold on to her top five ranking thanks to her capability to come out of nowhere and win a big title. She might not have won a major yet but the American has shown she is capable of that and it could be a matter of time she does that.
That being said, Pegula would need some of that comeback performance here.
She had started off the season earlier in Adelaide where she looked to go all the way, only to be thwarted by Madison Keys in the semifinals.
Pegula would have then hoped for a better showing than the third round exit at the Australian Open as well. To have lost to the 4/1 underdog Olga Danilovic was a shocker to say the least.
She has a tough one here but against a player whom she has beaten multiple times in the past.

Svitolina Comes Back to Beat Vondrousova
Elina Svitolina’s excellent run at the Australian Open earlier this year had ended in the quarterfinals where she lost to the eventual tournament winner Madison Keys.
She did not come back too well though, losing her opener in Linz to Anna Blinkova in straight sets.
And just two weeks later, featuring in her opener here in Doha, Svitolina was in dire straits against Marketa Vondrousova when she was blown off the court in the first set.
Vondrousova broke her three times to grab the set 6-0 and it was only in the second half of the second set that Svitolina found something going her way. She managed to get past Vondrousova’s serve on two occasions to clinch it and bring in the decider.
Four breaks of serves in the first six games took them to 3-3 before Svitolina saved two break-points at 4-4 and then missed a match-point at 5-4. Two games later she got another match-point and this time she managed to convert it.
Pegula v Svitolina Prediction
Pegula is a 3/5 favourite here which is rather long odds for the world number five. It is probably to do with the fact that she hasn’t had a great start to the season and hasn’t played in a while but we think those are tempting odds.
Pegula v Svitolina Tips
