Leylah Fernandez v Amanda Anisimova Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both were won by Fernandez. These came in the 2022 Indian Wells Open and 2022 French Open.
Fernandez Routs Navarro
Emma Navarro is a top-10 player and was 4/5 going into her second round match against Leylah Fernandez. It didn’t matter though as the Canadian player ripped through the Navarro serve to carve out a 6-2, 6-2 win.
This followed a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Greet Minnen in the first round.
In a match finished in 67 minutes, Fernandez was on the board quickly enough with an early break of serve and doubled it up when she broke Navarro at 5-2 again.
In the second set, Fernandez went 4-0 up this time and while Navarro finally pulled one back in the seventh game, she was broken for the fifth time in the encounter in the very next game.
Fernandez had earlier won successive matches at both, the Australian Open and WTA Abu Dhabi. Can she do one better this time?

Anisimova Sends Badosa Away
Paula Badosa is an Australian Open semifinalist and while she was beaten in the opener at the following tournament, she would have been expected to start a favourite against Amanda Anisimova.
Anisimova, however, wasn’t following any such scripts as she took Badosa down 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 31 minutes.
In a match that saw a total of 23 break-point opportunities for both the players, Anisimova went 3-1 up and while she lost her serve in the seventh game, broke Badosa at 4-5 again.
Badosa retaliated by taking a 2-0 lead in the second set but Anisimova had the last laugh as she overcame the Spaniard’s serve two more times to wrap up the encounter.
This follows a straight-set drubbing of Victoria Azarenka in the first round with Anisimova having had a 3-2 win-loss record for the year before this tournament.
Fernandez v Anisimova Prediction
Fernandez has a winning head to head record against Anisimova and with the kind of form she has been this year, we will have to go with her to win this.
