Jelena Ostapenko v Ons Jabeur Head to Head
It’s 4-1 in favour of Ons Jabeur who has won their last meetings including one last week in Abu Dhabi. Ostapenko’s only win at this level came at the 2021 Eastbourne International.
Ostapenko Showing Signs of Old
Jelena Ostapenko had won just one round from four previous tournaments and her struggles had been quite evident from that.
Having won two titles last year, which came in Adelaide and Linz, Ostapenko had ended the season on a sour note when she went on a four-match losing streak, also losing six of her final seven matches in the year.
And that looked to have continued this year when she bagged just one win from five matches – totally two wins from 12 encounters going back to Wimbledon last year.
Here, in Doha, she has turned things around rather well.
After an easy win over Aoi Ito in the first round, Ostapenko overcame Liudmilla Samsonova but coming up against the world number four Jasmine Paolini as a 13/10 underdog in round three, she claimed a crushing victory.
In a match lasting a mere 65 minutes, Ostapenko won 6-2, 6-2 to set up this quarterfinal meeting with Ons Jabeur.

Jabeur Steamrolls Kenin
It took Ons Jabeur a mere 67 minutes to register a third round win over Sofia Kenin and march into the last eight stage of the tournament.
Jabeur, who had earlier come off wins over McCartney Kessler and Qinwen Zheng, grabbed a 6-3, 6-4 victory over her American opponent.
She broke Kenin early in the first set and grabbed it off her third set-point. In the second, she went a break up in the fifth game but dropped her serve in the very next.
It was in the seventh game that Jabeur got the decisive break which took her closer to the win. The Tunisian number one served it out in the 10th game.
This now becomes the second tournament this season in which Jabeur has won three matches in a row after having done that in Brisbane.
Can she now make it four in four?
Ostapenko v Jabeur Prediction
Jabeur entered this tournament on the back of some consistent form while Ostapenko looks to have surprised a few with her performance here. We can expect a keen tussle and might even see a third set with Jabeur holding a slight advantage.
Ostapenko v Jabeur Tips
- Jabeur to win: 8/11
- Over 20.5 games in the match: 4/6
