Iga Swiatek v Elena Rybakina Head to Head
There have been eight previous meetings between these two players and Rybakina has a 5-3 advantage over Swiatek.
They last played at the United Cup earlier this year and Swiatek had grabbed that in straight sets. Rather interestingly their previous match came on the clay of Stuttgart where Rybakina had stunned Swiatek.
Rybakina Thwarts Sramkova’s Start
Elena Rybakina has a few things going against her off the court and that will have a role to play on her performances on it. But given all the circumstances, she has done well to reach the quarterfinals here.
After getting a first round bye, Rybakina was an easy winner over Peyton Stearns in the second round. And while Rebecca Sramkova put up a show in the first set, Rybakina clinched a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win in the third as well.
Sramkova put up a valiant display though, coming back from being a break down twice in the opening set to then save three set-points at 4-5.
In the ensuing tie-breaker though, Rybakina proved to be too good for her opponent and once she won the set, the wind seemed to have left the sails for Sramkova.
Rybakina will now face her biggest challenge as she takes on the world number two and three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek.

Swiatek Wins Tough Battle v Noskova
Iga Swiatek is desperate for a title after having lost in the final of the United Cup to USA (Cori Gauff) and then having been taken down in a fighting semifinal by Madison Keys at the Australian Open.
And that hunger showed in the previous round too where Swiatek ran off to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Maria Sakkari following a first round bye.
In the third round, however, things began to go rather wrong for the world number two and it was only a late resurrection that helped her edge out Linda Noskova.
Starting a 1/4 favourite at the start of the match, it took Swiatek two hours and 33 minutes to shrug off the loss off the first set tie-breaker to win it in three.
Noskova hammered 16 aces at Swiatek who came back in the second set with two breaks of serves and broke her opponent late in the third set to serve for the match. The encounter ended off her second match-point.
Swiatek will know she needs to do better against a player of Rybakina’s quality.
Swiatek v Rybakina Prediction
Swiatek is the obvious favourite but Rybakina will be charged up and we won’t be surprised if this went into a third set as well given the kind of head to head they have. The Pole to win in three.
Swiatek v Rybakina Tips
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
