Andrey Rublev v Alexander Bublik Head to Head
This is an interesting rivalry with Rublev leading 4-2 at the highest level (and 4-3 if one includes a qualifying win in Moscow way back in 2016). Most recently they had made in Dubai last year and Bublik had won that semifinal.
Rublev Slowly Showing Signs of Improvement
It was a highly forgettable start for Andrey Rublev who kick-started his season with a defeat at the hands of Fabian Marozsan in Hong Kong and then went on to lose to Joao Fonseca in the Australian Open opener.
In more recent times, with Rublev featuring in Montpellier and Rotterdam, he has done better but is still some way off his best.
At the former, Rublev overcame Christopher Eubanks and was then aided by a Nikoloz Basilashvili’s retirement to make the quarterfinals where he lost to Aleksandar Kovacevic
And then in Rotterdam, it was Hubert Hurkacz who got the better of him after easing past Zhizhen Zhang and gaining his revenge on Marozsan.
He takes on an out-of-sorts but highly unpredictable Bublik in round one here.

Bublik 2-5 for the Season
Alexander Bublik won four ATP titles over the 2022-24 period, hit a career-best ranking of 17th in the world and in general looked like a player to beat.
Things have turned, however, for the worse since that.
The Kazakh has lost more than he has won since winning the last of his four titles – which came in Marseille last year – having ended 2024 with a 2-9 win-loss record and begun 2025 with a further five losses to go with just two victories.
It’s quite a baffling time for Bublik who has been beaten by Miomir Kecmanovic, Francisco Cerundolo, Aleksandar Kovacevic, Jakub Mensik and most recently in Marseille by Ugo Humbert.
All of these are solid players in their own right, some even good enough to challenge other top 20 players but the kind of opponents Bublik would have got the better of most times when the going had been good for him.
And he now faces a top 10 player first up here.
Rublev v Bublik Prediction
While neither player has been in particularly good form, Rublev has worked his way to a couple of decent showings – although they have been far from his best. He could take another step towards improvement as he takes to court for this opener and out of form Bublik.
