Magdalena Frech v Elina Avanesyan Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the Budapest Open last year and Avanesyan had won that one.
Frech Struggling to Follow up on 2024 Form
Magdalena Frech had begun the 2024 season ranked 74th in the world but a title win at Guadalajara and some other solid performances through the year helped her end 2024 on 25th.
Things haven’t begun as well for the Polish number two this year.
She did make it to the third round at the Australian Open but other than that, Frech has featured in five tournaments this season and won just one match.
That had come in Doha where she she shocked Beatriz Haddad Maia in the opener but then went on to lose to Magda Linette in the second round. And that form continued to show a dip as Frech was sent packing in straight sets by Diana Shnaider at Dubai in the week before this.
She will hope she can turn things around here.

Avanesyan Translating Clay Form to Hardcourts
Elina Avanesyan has made her mark on clay with five lower level titles on the surface and having also entered the fourth round at the French Open in 2023.
This year, Avanesyan has tried to convert that into some hardcourt form as well, reaching the third round in Brisbane and then making it as far as the semifinals in Adelaide.
In more recent times, Avanesyan has struggled to get going though with first round exits at the Australian Open and WTA Dubai and a second round ouster in Linz and Doha.
She will want to turn that around again and with a player who is struggling for form against her here, it could well be a good chance for Avanesyan to do exactly that.
Frech v Avanesyan Prediction
Backing Avanesyan to live up to her odds and win this with bookmakers offering 4/6 for her win.
