Casper Ruud v Arthur Rinderknech Head to Head
Their two previous encounters have both come on clay and Ruud leads 2-0. These matches were played in 2021 in Kitzbuhel and in 2023 in Rome.
Last Year Finalist Ruud Coming off Dallas Final
There seems to be a deliberate attempt from Casper Ruud to get going in hardcourt competitions after having opted out of the clay court swing in South America this time.
Instead, the world number five featured in the Dallas Open two weeks ago and went all the way to the final. He lost to Denis Shapovalov in that encounter but that was just his second defeat of the season to go with nine wins.
Ruud has beaten Hubert Hurkacz this year but other than that he hasn’t quite played any top players either, so that’s something to consider before looking at that 9-2 win-loss record that he has for the season.
He starts off as the runner-up in this tournament last year having lost to Alex de Minaur here in 2024. Can he go one further this time?

Rinderknech Struggling to up His Win Count
Arthur Rinderknech has featured in six tournaments this season but the only successes he has had have been in the first round of the Montpellier Open and Delray Beach Open.
And even those wins have been against players ranked way lower – Harold Mayot and Dmitry Popko.
Other than that, Rinderknech has lost in the first round at all the other four tournaments but more vitally to players mostly outside of the top 40.
Yoshihito Nishioka, Christopher O’Connell, Nikoloz Basilashvili and Cameron Norrie have all beaten the struggling Rinderknech this year. And he now faces the world number five here.
Ruud v Rinderknech Prediction
Casper Ruud shouldn’t have much of a problem here and we can expect a straight-set win for the Norwegian number one.
