Alex Michelsen v Yunchaokete Bu Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players with Michelsen winning both.
Those matches were held in Shanghai and Metz.
Michelsen Building Towards Best Season
Alex Michelsen had ended the 2023 season ranked 97th in the world and within a matter of a year he had broken into the top 50.
Less than two months into this new year, Michelsen is now 34th on the ATP charts and the manner in which he is going, he could well go on to break into the top 30 very soon.
This has been down to his consistent performances all season barring a rare first round loss at the Dallas Open where he was brought down by Cameron Norrie.
Other than that, Michelsen has made the fourth round at the Australian Open and clinched successive wins at Auckland and Delray Beach. These results have been punctuated with victories over Stefanos Tsitsipas, Karen Khachanov and Norrie himself.
He will start a huge favourite against his Chinese opponent.

Bu 3-7 for the Season
It continues to remain a forgettable season for Yunchkaote Bu who has won just three matches from the 10 he has played this year.
Two of them came in Montpellier where it looked like he was getting back to his best before Bu lost in the quarterfinals.
This had been preceded by three successive losses at the start of the season and was followed by four defeats from the next five matches including opening round losses at Dallas and Rio.
The good news for Bu is that he’s still not too far away from his career-best ranking of 65th in the world – currently at 68th – but the not so exciting news is that he will start a distant second-favourite against a confident, improving and in-form Michelsen.
Michelsen v Bu Prediction
Looking at Michelsen to clinch this easily, probably even in straight sets with at least one of them being a really quick affair.
Michelsen v Bu Tips
