Stefanos Tsitsipas v Karen Khachanov Head to Head
There have been nine previous meetings between these two players and Tsitsipas leads by a whopping 8-1 margin. They played once in 2024 when Tsitsipas won in straight sets in Monte-Carlo. It’s 6-1 for Tsitsipas in hardcourt competitions.
Tsitsipas Goes Past Sonego
Stefanos Tsitsipas has had a forgettable season but he would be relieved to have made it past the Australian Open quarterfinalist Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of this competition.
In a match lasting an hour and 39 minutes, Tsitsipas carved out a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win over Sonego to move into the second round.
While it turned out to be a straight-set win for Tsitsipas, it wasn’t before he was tested in the first set with Sonego coming back from being a break down to take it to the tie-breaker.
In the second set, it took Tsitsipas just one break of serve to go past his opponent and seal off the victory. And having followed on from his opening round losses at Australian Open and Doha, it would be a shot in the arm for the Greek number one to move into the second round here.

Khachanov Eases Past Evans
It’s been a bizarre start to the season for Karen Khachanov in 2025.
He has made the third round at the Australian Open, sure, but other than that, Khachanov has played in three tournaments and has been ousted in the first round at each one of them.
And it’s not like players don’t have that kind of a start at times but what makes it strange is that Khacanov had ended the previous season in a terrific fashion.
He had won the Almaty Open, then made the final of the Vienna Open with wins over Matteo Berrettini and Alex de Minaur before ending the season at Belgrade where he was the semifinalist.
He now has a tough match-up against Tsitsipas having barely won anything this year.
Can he turn things around against his Greek opponent?
Tsitsipas v Khachanov Predictions
With the kind of head to head between these two players it’s a bit of a surprise that Tsitsipas has odds as high as 3/4 for his win. Backing him to come though here.
