Daniil Medvedev v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head
There have been no previous meetings between Medvedev and Griekspoor.
Medvedev Tames Mpetshi Perricard
Given the kind of start that Daniil Medvedev has had to the season, it always looked likely that Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard would have made life difficult for him when they met in the second round of the competition here.
But in a mere hour and 25 minutes, Medvedev found a way to get past Mpetshi Perricard, winning it 6-4, 6-4.
Medvedev’s serve, which has been one of his biggest weapons over the years, seemed to be functioning at its peak as the Russian won 23 of his 24 first serve points. And he lost just seven more to go with that, facing no break-points in the encounter.
In turn, Medvedev broke his opponent twice but more importantly, he got 10 break-point opportunities to try and claim the win.
He had earlier eased past Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round of the competition.

Griekspoor Shocks Humbert
Having entered the second round as a 13/5 underdog against Ugo Humbert, it looked like Tallon Griekspoor was on his way out when he lost the opening set of their encounter.
Two sets and a total of a tad over two hours later, Griekspoor had turned things around to win the encounter 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and claim his spot in the quarterfinals.
This win came close on the heels of an even closer one against Roman Safiullin in which Griekspoor had come back from a set down and needed a further two tie-breakers to get to the next stage.
Griekspoor has been in a reasonable touch in the season but before this tournament he had won back to back matches in a competition only once – in Montpellier. Can he top the world number six in this one?
Medvedev v Griekspoor Predictions
While Medvedev is still some way off his best form, his serving in the second round would have given him some more confidence. Backing him for another win and in two sets.
