Sebastian Baez v Francisco Comesana Preview
Head-to-Head: World number 31 Baez and the 67th-ranked Comesana have never faced off before this at this level.
Sebastian Baez returns to the courts after having won his seventh title at this level when he successfully defending his Rio Open victory last week. He had clinched the trophy with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the final.
He had earlier kick-started his clay court campaign for the season with a semifinal appearance at the Rosario Challenger and then lost in the second round in Buenos Aires.
The good news for Baez is that he had a first round bye here, giving him three days between his final last week and his opener here against fellow Argentine Francisco Comesana. Hee would have had the time to recover from the gruelling schedule.
Comesana is himself coming off a semifinal at the Rio Open where he was beaten by Alexandre Muller. Here in Santiago, he then needed a couple of tie-breakers to edge past Felipe Meligeni Rodrigues Alves.
The biggest question in front of Comesana is whether he is feeling the heat after having played almost the entire of the last week and begun here with his opener. We think, either ways Baez will prove to be too strong.
Baez v Comesana prediction: Baez to win in straight sets: 1/1

Alejandro Tabilo v Federico Coria Preview
Head-to-Head: There have been no previous meetings between these two players at this level but in the three Challenger matches they have played, Tabilo leads 2-1.
Alejandro Tabilo has been in no form whatsoever and it was only his performances from the previous season that have helped him retain a top-30 ranking right now. And that, in turn, meant that he had a first round bye here as he takes on the 136th-ranked Federico Coria.
However, Tabilo’s struggles have been real with the Chilean following on a season with his first two career titles with one in which he has played in five tournaments and won no matches!
His last competition appearance came in Rio last week where he was downed by Chun Hsin Tseng and he now faces a player ranked outside the top 100 but will still have question-marks around his chances.
While the bookmakers have Coria at 11/10 to bag a win here, his 6-1, 6-0 drubbing of Marcelo Barrios Vera would have raised his confidence level another notch.
Backing the Argentine to surprise Tabilo here.
Tabilo v Coria prediction: Coria to win: 11/10
