Caroline Garcia v Bernarda Pera Head to Head
Pera has beaten Garcia in each of the three matches they have played. Those wins came at the 2019 Lausanne Open, 2020 WTA Doha and 2024 Wimbledon.
Garcia’s Form Remains a Question-Mark
Caroline Garcia was ranked fourth in the world not so long ago. She will enter this year’s Indian Wells Open on the 70th spot (at the time of writing), which has been brought about thanks to a string of poor results over the last 12 months.
And while she had promised at the start of this year that she would be looking to play tennis for the love of it, that hasn’t changed things around too much.
In the four tournaments that Garcia has played this season, she has won just one match and that came in Doha against Yue Yuan.
Other than that, Garcia’s losses to Naomi Osaka, Lulu Sun, Jasmine Paolini and Marketa Vondrousova are an indicator of one aspect alone – she is a long way away from her best and will need a dramatic turnaround if she wants to start winning matches, let alone tournaments.
She had made the third round here last season and runs the risk of dropping a few points as a result of her form.

Pera Struggling Since Auckland
Pera enters the Indian Wells Open main draw for the fourth time in her career and she has won her first round match every single time.
That being said, it’s her form that will worry her the most what with Pera having not won a main draw match since the first week of January.
The American had kick-started the season with a couple of wins at the Auckland Open to reach the quarterfinal but has stumbled badly after that. A loss to Robin Montgomery in that last eight encounter has been followed by appearances in five tournaments and no main draw matches won.
In one of them, at Dubai, Pera did not even qualify for the main tournament while at the others, there have been losses to Cristina Bucsa, Camila Osorio, Tatjana Maria and Anna Blinkova.
Her only solace coming into this one is her opponent’s poor form.
Garcia v Pera Predictions
In a lot of ways this is a battle between two players woefully out of touch but with the kind of head to head they have, we would like to think that Pera holds a psychological advantage against Garcia. At 11/10, it makes sense to back the American to win this.
Garcia v Pera Tips
- Pera to win: 11/10
