Sorana Cirstea v Maya Joint Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between Cirstea and Joint.
Cirstea Finally Gets Going at Dubai & Austin
Sorana Cirstea made a terrible start to the season as she went down in the Adelaide International qualifiers, lost in the first rounds at Australian Open and Cluj-Napoca and won her only match at the Linz Open.
Even that win came against the struggling Arantxa Rus and needed Cirstea to feature in three sets.
The turnaround for the Romanian player came in Dubai where she shocked Daria Kasatkina in her opener despite starting out a 4/1 underdog, overcame Alycia Parks and then stunned the top 10 player Emma Navarro to reach the quarterfinals.
Cirstea would then go on to win back to back matches at Austin to enter the quarterfinals there too, falling to McCartney Kessler in three sets there.
A quarterfinalist at this tournament in 2023, Cirstea knows a thing or two about playing here.

Joint Continues Form with Easy Qualifying Wins
Maya Joint was a relatively unknown commodity at the start of the season, ranked 116th in the world and hoping to take advantage of kick-starting the season in the home conditions in Australian.
She has done a lot more than that.
In the six WTA tournaments that Joint has featured before the qualifiers here, she has gotten to the second round at five with her only first round loss coming at the Australian Open.
Joint made the semifinal at the Hobart International and the WTA 125 event in Cancun and defeated Donna Vekic on her way to the quarterfinals in Merida last week. Some of other scalps for the season include Sofia Kenin and Magda Linette.
She cruised to straight-set victories over Mirjam Bjorkland and Anastasia Zakharova here to enter the main draw.
Cirstea v Joint Predictions
Joint’s form takes on Cirstea’s experience here. We believe Joint holds the edge and could take down Cirstea but the one factor to look at is the amount of tennis that she has played in recent times and if that could make it exhausting for the Aussie.
