Caty McNally v Ajla Tomljanovic Head to Head
McNally and Tomljanovic have never faced off before this.
McNally Making Her Way Back from Injuries
Caty McNally featured at the 2023 Wimbledon following which she suffered an elbow injury which kept her out for the rest of the season.
She returned to play in February 2024 but was then forced to go on a break after undergoing a surgery on her elbow. This kept McNally out till November last year.
While McNally has come back and has opportunities to play with her protected ranking, the American will know she needs to start winning matches regularly.
What’s slightly concerning to note is that McNally was forced to withdraw from the Austin Open last week because of a shoulder injury. Can she recover in time for the start of the Indian Wells Open?

Tomljanovic Makes it Through the Qualifiers
Ajla Tomljanovic seems to be taking it a tad easy as she returns to full fitness and has featured in only four tournaments this year so far.
She failed to qualify for the Adelaide International, made the second round at the Australian Open and fell in the first round in Singapore to kick things off for the season before finally finding her rhythm in Austin last week.
The Aussie overcame Katie Volynets, Jodie Burrage and Ena Shibahara to make the semifinals before Jessica Pegula knocked her out.
Tomljanovic, who last played in Indian Wells in 2022 and made the second round, eased past Julieta Pareja in the first qualifier here before Zeynep Sonmez withdrew from their second qualifier to give the Aussie an entry here.
