Tomas Martin Etcheverry v Jakub Mensik Head to Head
This will be their first meeting.
Etcheverry Returning from South American Swing
In what turned out to be an average performance on clay, Tomas Martin Etcheverry managed to win three and lose as many matches over the three tournaments he featured in at the South American Swing.
After bowing out in the opener of his home tournament in Buenos Aires, Etcheverry made the second round in Rio. Alexandre Muller then got the better of him there.
And at the Santiago Open, Etcheverry looked like he had finally found his mojo when he defeated Hugo Gaston and Cristian Garin but then found fellow Argentine Francisco Cerundolo to be too strong for him.
Etcheverry will now feature in a tournament in which he has never won a main draw match before. Can the former top-30 player turn that record around?

Teenager Mensik 7-4 for the Season
Jakub Mensik won five Futures events over 2022 and 2023 and then grabbed his first title at the Challenger which was enough for him to try his hand at the tour level.
And how brilliantly has he done.
Last year, Mensik made the second round at the Australian Open as a qualifier and then progressed to finish the runner-up at the Qatar Open, semifinal in Umag and the quarterfinals at both, the Shanghai Masters and Vienna Open.
And if one thought that those results were a fluke, Mensik has come back strongly this year too with a quarterfinal appearance in Brisbane and Auckland and a third round showing at the Australian Open.
Mensik has already defeated Ben Shelton, Casper Ruud and Alexander Bublik this season and will hope to bring the same form into the Indian Wells Masters where he had made the second round last year on his debut.
Etcheverry v Mensik Predictions
Mensik is just 19 years of age and his opponent Etcheverry is a better-ranked player. That doesn’t matter too much though with Mensik still starting out a favourite at 1/2. The one thing to note here is that the courts might be slower and that could allow Etcheverry a look into the contest but Mensik should still win this.
Etcheverry v Mensik Tips
- Mensik to win: 1/2
- Over 20.5 games in the match: 6/5
