Yunchaokete Bu v Nishesh Basavareddy Head to Head
Bu and Basavareddy have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Bu Hoping for a Repeat of 2024
It was in 2024 that Yunchaokete Bu came into the reckoning with his performances right throughout the year. So much so that having started the season ranked 171st on the ATP charts, Bu ended the year at 65th – a huge jump in the rankings.
What was interesting to see was that Bu did not play a single main draw match at the highest level in 2024 till the US Open. And from there on, he made the semifinal of the Hangzhou Open, another semifinal at the China Open and finished things off with a quarterfinal appearance in Almaty.
This year things have changed for Bu as he has had to kick-start the season directly with ATP events at the highest level and he has struggled with that.
He made the quarterfinal at the Montpellier Open, sure, but other than that, Bu has won just one match over seven other tournaments.
Bu will hope for a better debut here.

Basavareddy in a Solid Start to the Season
These are still very early days for Nishesh Basavareddy in his career but he is already beginning to show some sparkle, enough for him to earn a wildcard in this competition.
Basavareddy was 457th on the ATP charts at the end of the 2023 season and begun the 2025 season ranked 138th thanks to his title wins at two Challenger events.
And in 2025, he has improved even further with qualifications for three ATP events and the Australian Open.
While Basavareddy was sent packing in the opening round at three of the aforementioned four competitions, his semifinal appearance at the Auckland Open came at the expense of Francisco Comesana, Alejandro Tabilo and Alex Michelsen and he would like to take those memories into this home Masters 1000 event.
Can he make his debut here with a win?
