Viktoriya Golubic v Kimberly Birrell Head to Head
They have faced off once before this – in the qualifiers of the 2022 US Open – and Golubic had won in three sets.
Qualifier Golubic Has a Good Record in Indian Wells
Once ranked 35th in the world, Viktorija Golubic has slid outside the top 100 at the moment but enters the tournament with a two-fold confidence.
One, she was made to come through the qualifiers in which she was at her best, beating Jodie Burrage and Greet Minnen – two really tricky opponents at this level.
The other is to do with Golubic’s record in this competition. Twice in her career, Golubic has made it to the third round here and on one of those occasions, in 2022, she also progressed to the fourth round.
That was her best performance in any WTA 1000 till date.
Golubic will now look to win her second main draw of the season.

Birrell Continues Good Form
While Kimberly Birrell would have been a tad pegged back by her opening round loss at the Australian Open after getting to know of her lucky loser opponent only at the 11th hour, her overall performances this season have been something to behold.
She has already won an ITF title but other than that, Birrell has done well at the highest level too.
This includes a quarterfinal appearance at the Brisbane International and another last eight showing in Singapore before coming into this one on the back of a second round showing in Austin.
In the qualifiers before this, Birrell eased past Kristina Penickova and then defeated Cristina Bucsa to find herself in the first round of this tournament for the second time in her career.
Golubic v Birrell Predictions
While Golubic starts off slightly ahead here at 4/5, Birrell might not be too far behind and at 1/1 we think she is a good bet to grab this win.
