Krueger in a Battling Win over Kessler
This all-American battle between Ashlyn Krueger and McCartney Kessler was always going to be a hard-fought one and in the end it took two hours and 20 minutes to decide the winner.
In the end it was Krueger who clinched a place in the second round despite having entered the match as an 11/10 underdog but only just.
Krueger was down a break in the first set, lost the second set in a tie-breaker before finally finding herself an early break in the decider before she held on to it and clinched the set 6-3.
